BoccaLupo

May 9, 2013

First visit to BoccaLupo, in the former Sauced (Ria’s) location on Edgewood, which is helmed by Bruce Logue who opened La Pietra Cucina, back when it was good. He makes pasta. I ate some. And photographed. I had a ravioli style deal with mushrooms and young (not as bitter) rapini. Nice and light. Tomatoes and [...]

Storico Fresco Retail Shop

January 30, 2013

Storico Fresco is now open in Buckhead, at the corner of Andrews and Roswell Rd, in a somewhat hard to find spot behind the shops visible from the road. It’s a few doors down from Pie Shop if you know where that is. It’s tough to be a food fan in Atlanta and not be [...]

Lately – January 2013

January 19, 2013

The holidays were great, but as for so many, there is a little bit of stress due to the intense scheduling of events. A drop-in at this grandparents, dinner at this house, parties with friends – it takes its toll. It’s great to be a homebody sometimes. That’s when I do my best cooking. My [...]

La Tagliatella US [Atlanta - Midtown]

January 8, 2013

Check it – a few photos from a quick initial visit to La Tagliatella, the huge European chain of Italian food, who decided to enter the U.S. market via Atlanta. The menu is quite big. There are many pasta and sauce variations, many appetizers, salads, calzones, and a page full of pizzas. The foccacia bread [...]

December 8, 2012

Last night I returned from a trip to the low country, and realized I need to finish my post from my last trip down that way. A month ago I was working in Columbia, then made my way to Savannah to run the half marathon (1:49 with no training, I’ll take it). I made a [...]

Bocado & STG Trattoria

November 5, 2012

After visiting both of owner Brian Lewis’ restaurant in one week, I figured I would post them together. They are both well established at this point, though both STG Trattoria and Bocado have seen recent change. STG is now serving brunch, and Chef Todd Ginsberg left Bocado to join up with the Johnson’s of West [...]

Porchetta. Pasta. Duck. Beans. Seamless Ravioli.

November 1, 2012

Dude and I cooked a meal. I bought a pork shoulder and whole belly from Riverview Farms. Above, in perhaps my manliest photo ever (note – blow torch, chef’s knife, hack saw, and beer bottle), I butchered the shoulder. He/she will never dance again. Dude’s kids were appalled.

iEat with iPhone – Pinewood, No 246, Chipotle, The Oak Table, Joystick Gamebar [part 1]

October 9, 2012

Hey a bunch of phone photos. My iPhone 5 will have to suffice while I replace my camera which was stolen in what was surely a case of blogger espionage. We ventured out to Decatur for an evening of revelry and tried out The Pinewood Tippling Room, in the old Cakes & Ale space. They [...]
