BoccaLupo

May 9, 2013

First visit to BoccaLupo, in the former Sauced (Ria’s) location on Edgewood, which is helmed by Bruce Logue who opened La Pietra Cucina, back when it was good. He makes pasta. I ate some. And photographed. I had a ravioli style deal with mushrooms and young (not as bitter) rapini. Nice and light. Tomatoes and [...]

Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano

March 5, 2013

Finally made it over to Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano, the second coming from The Apostle of Pizza. It’s next door to his pizza place – Antico. It’s communal, like his pizza place. You order at the counter and wait for your food, like the pizza place. The prices aren’t necessarily low, but the quality of the [...]

La Tagliatella US [Atlanta - Midtown]

January 8, 2013

Check it – a few photos from a quick initial visit to La Tagliatella, the huge European chain of Italian food, who decided to enter the U.S. market via Atlanta. The menu is quite big. There are many pasta and sauce variations, many appetizers, salads, calzones, and a page full of pizzas. The foccacia bread [...]

Griffin Market, Local 11 Ten, Distillery, Bonna Bella [Beaufort | Savannah]

December 8, 2012

Last night I returned from a trip to the low country, and realized I need to finish my post from my last trip down that way. A month ago I was working in Columbia, then made my way to Savannah to run the half marathon (1:49 with no training, I’ll take it). I made a [...]

Bocado & STG Trattoria

November 5, 2012

After visiting both of owner Brian Lewis’ restaurant in one week, I figured I would post them together. They are both well established at this point, though both STG Trattoria and Bocado have seen recent change. STG is now serving brunch, and Chef Todd Ginsberg left Bocado to join up with the Johnson’s of West [...]

iEat with iPhone – Thai Restaurant of Norcross, Nicky’s Seafood, Decker’s, Woody’s [part 2]

October 15, 2012

Hey, a few more phone photos! First up, we randomly chose a restaurant in Norcross on the way home from South Carolina, stopping at Thai Restaurant of Norcross. The menu is big and ubiquitous, the place was jammed on a Sunday afternoon, and the food was well done. Feeling the effects of a cold, the simple [...]

Nashville – Prince’s Hot Chicken, City House, Crema

October 3, 2012

Scenes from last weekend’s trip to Nashvillle. We had dinner Friday upstairs at Merchants. It won’t blow your skirt up but does the trick if you want a good steak or similar. Service was excellent for a group of twelve too. A mountain of well seasoned greens for $6 was actually my favorite dish.

La Tavola Tomatofeast

July 31, 2012

Last week I sort of panicked when I realized July is basically over, and I didn’t feel like I’d enjoyed my fill of tomatoes, peaches, and corn – my holy southern summer trinity. Thus, I’ve been making tomato salads and eating peaches all week, and my brother made an outstanding gazpacho on Sunday evening. I [...]
