Gavage [Tampa, Asheville, AJ's, Heirloom, Calle Latina, Miso Izakaya]

April 12, 2013

Been a while since I’ve had a Gavage post, in which I dump a bunch of content not necessarily appropriate for a single topic post. You could also call it the “hey, look what I’ve been doing” series, or the “yeah, I eat and drink a lot and my doctor said I may have a [...]

Things I Eat and Drink – February 2013

February 26, 2013

Today I conquered some lunch at Sushi Huku while running errands. Jey-San told me he had black throat, which is not a medieval disease, but a pretty and outrageously tasty fish. Fatty, clean, tender, with a crazy long and sweet finish. I’d bet he will sell out quick, so if you are into this sort of thing, [...]

Wrecking Ball Pub – Local Republic

January 21, 2013

Not sure how I had not been to the Wrecking Bar Brewpub. What a fantastic building, they did an incredible restoration job. We peeked inside, which is used for events. The pub is below. Huge whiskey list. Good prices. We only had a snack, and we shared a pretzel and crudites with fondue. This really [...]

Tomo, Tartufo, Buckhead

October 15, 2011

Last night Katie and I were planning on hitting up Tartufo, the newly opened pizza restaurant which shares a wall (and ownership) with La Fourchette. As we were getting ready, I received an email letting me know that Tomo’s new location in the Ritz Carlton Residences was able to open their doors that evening, a [...]

The Porch at Collier

October 7, 2011

The Porch at Collier has been open a week or so, in the greatly renovated former Hong Li space, next door to Big Easy Grill and the new location of Verde. I’ve been eagerly waiting for both of these restaurants to open due to the shortage of casual eating/drinking within stumbling distance of my home. [...]

Chicken & Beer [And Noodles]

August 10, 2011

How can you not love a place called Chicken & Beer? Even if it’s really just the subtext for the actual name of the Korean chain – BBQ Chicken. Whenever I’m driving home from Greenville (which is often), I make a point to stop in Duluth for some grub. I usually check out Chow Down and [...]
