JCT Burger

in atlanta, dining out

I just finished a brutal workout at Crossfit Atlanta and am having a beer at Westside Cafe Italiano, a Red Brick Hoplanta, which is quite good. I figured I’d used this time to check out the WordPress iPhone app. I took some pictures of my JCT burger from last night and enhanced them with the Snapseed app then uploaded them to WordPress. Gotta love technology.

I was a little irked at the $16 price tag of their burger, which is purportedly ground daily brisket with blue cheese and a bacon onion jam. But my displeasure with the cost was diverted to the terrible acoustic guy at the upstairs bar, where we had setup shop on a warm Atlanta evening. It’s not the same guy from last time, but the playlist was the same. John Meyer. Jason Mraz. Oasis (“Wonderwall”). Is this a frickin’ corporate mandate?

Well the burger (and a cocktail) came and my mood shifted. A big hunk of burger, which toed the line between mid rare and medium, it was just what I wanted.

The blue cheese overpowers the bacon jam, and a burger this size needs more seasoning, but this is a darn fine specimen on the Atlanta scene. The bun was real smart too, proportional and substantial enough to handle this Meat. Capitalization intended.

Bring ear plugs and you’ll be fine.

They made a decent negroni too.
