For a while I tried to have a weekly post with upcoming food and wine events, but it turned out to be time consuming and there are other places on your local internet that are much better for that sort of thing. For example, there is the Creative Loafing Events page, Local Wine Events, Adventurous Tastes, and this random Google doc.
BUT, there are a few things I’ve filed away that I thought I’d pass along. I don’t know how awesome a couple of these events will be, but I’m considering going to a few of them. If they suck, I’ve already put up the disclaimer, so there ya go.

As Foodie Buddha mentioned today, the Inman Park restaurant week is coming up. I haven’t participated in any of the recent plethora of restaurant weeks, but I am interested in hitting up either Sotto Sotto, Shaun’s, or Sauced. Sauced, the soon to be open restaurant from Ria Pell (of Ria’s Bluebird), looks to have an interesting array of finger food, and is only $15 for the three courses.
Taste of Atlanta is also coming up soon. There are more than 80 restaurants participating this year at Tech square. The early registration discount deadline has passed, but if you use the code ZAGAT you will get $5 off.
Todd Richards announced on his blog that Rolling Bones is hosting a “4th War Tent Revival” on October 17th at 5PM. It looks to be a casual event with a lot of food and libations. Entry is $25, or an equivalent amount of bourbon. Isn’t that awesome? I love Todd’s style.
The Virgina Highland Chile Pepper festival is Saturday October 24th from 4-11PM. Original El Taco, DBA, and Mali Thai are participating. In addition to their full regular menus, each restaurant will have a few special items including roasted chili pepper and chicken tacos from El Taco, and braised beef-stuffed chili peppers from DBA.

This isn’t event related, but you need to check out the latest post on Grindhouse Burgers (open today) from Broderick at Savory Exposure. I hope that burger lives up to his photo, cause it looks great.
Giving Broderick some friendly competition is the new ATL food photograpjhy site Spoonfed by photographer Mark Petko. Awesome stuff so far, check it out.
Finally, what does the photo at the top of the post have to do with any of this? Nothing, but I boiled some raw butter beans in water with star anise, cinnamon, Sichuan peppercorns, and dried chiles, then served them drizzed with hot chili oil and ground Sichuan pepper and I really liked it.
