Brother Journal

June 3, 2013

Ryan Smith, Andrew Thomas Lee, Alvin Diec, and Wyatt Williams have created a new single-topic food magazine named Brother. I picked one up at Empire State South after the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival this past Friday night. The first issue features Brandon Chonko of Grassroots Farm, where he raises chickens and his family. The [...]

Gavage [Tampa, Asheville, AJ's, Heirloom, Calle Latina, Miso Izakaya]

April 12, 2013

Been a while since I’ve had a Gavage post, in which I dump a bunch of content not necessarily appropriate for a single topic post. You could also call it the “hey, look what I’ve been doing” series, or the “yeah, I eat and drink a lot and my doctor said I may have a [...]

Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano

March 5, 2013

Finally made it over to Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano, the second coming from The Apostle of Pizza. It’s next door to his pizza place – Antico. It’s communal, like his pizza place. Nashville – Prince’s Hot Chicken, City House, Crema

October 3, 2012

muss & turner fried chicken sandwich

Apologies to the faithful for the lack of Atlanta based content. I haven’t been dining out in the ATL much lately, opting to cook more often during this glorious barbecue, fruit, and vegetable rich season. Well, I take that back. I haven’t been dining anywhere which I have not already discussed frequently in the past. [...]

Grilling Out

July 13, 2012

The original title of this post was BBQ, but then I realized I’m in the South, where BBQ is a noun. So I “grilled out” both nights last weekend. We ate, we drank, we cavorted, and at times we stood around a grill and nodded our heads. Saturday I went to my friend Steve’s home, [...]

Plenty – Yotam Ottolenghi

June 19, 2012
Thumbnail image for Plenty – Yotam Ottolenghi

This past weekend I had the major itch to do some cooking. More on this at a later date, but for the week prior I had not eaten solid food, and it was interesting that my cravings were for all things bright, crunchy, and fresh. Also, I recently told myself I needed to cook through [...]
