This year’s iteration of the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival (guide here – tasting tent talent here) begins a week from today. Various ticket packages are still available. I will admit that I’m on a media pass for Saturday (denied the three day pass, my Q rating is dropping), but I’ve paid in the past and it’s worth it. The tasting tents are fun, Saturday is sure to be a zoo, but it’s fun and the weather mystics predict temps in the low 80’s, which should be nice.
Tasting tents are a hot mess of fun, but I think it’s worthwhile to ante up for a full day pass, which includes access to the educational sessions. Your interest may be cooking, butchering, wine, spirits, beer, or just seeing some famous faces – they’ve got you covered. I went to an early morning stout beer seminar with Foothills Brewery, Westbrook, and Wrecking Bar, leaving me with a solid buzz at 9AM, which I was able to maintain for roughly twelve hours. Pacing is key. And if you really want to go hardcore, follow the Jim Koch method of liver protection and amaze your friends as you glug down the samples of bourbon.
