Tomorrow’s News Today is reporting that Midtown Manhattan restaurant Don Antonio will be opening in the former STG Trattoria space next to the St. Regis in Buckhead.

I can’t recall the last time I was genuinely interested in the opening of an out-of-towner restaurant.

As an avid pizza fan, eater, and cook I read Serious Eats’ Slice blog regularly, and kept up with the opening and reception of Don Antonio, which features some great looking Neapolitan style pies, better-than-standard appetizers like house-made burrata, and well received panini. But most interesting to me is their pizze fritte (filled and fried pizzas) and especially the Montanara Starita, which is a dough that is first fried then topped.

Kenji at Serious Eats offered a recipe to recreate the Montanara, which I immediately attempted in my kitchen. I was quite pleased, and wanted to try it again, though I sort of forgot about it.

I don’t know how “in the bag” this is, but I do know that Tomorrow’s News Today has a strong track record of detailed research and accuracy, so I am hopeful.
