in atlanta, dining out

Eugene

Almost two years ago friends and I got together for a wine dinner at Restaurant Eugene, and per usual, I took some photos. The squid ink bedded dish above was particularly visually appealing.

I snapped blurry photos of amazing wine too, which tends to happen after a few bottles. Weird; I may have to look into that.

I feel like a huge douche for taking photos inside of restaurants, even though I don’t use the flash and I try to make it quick, but I do love going back and looking at old pictures, they are great memories. Now, I’m so glad that I was “that guy” and unabashedly took the shots. I just spent the last hour looking at various trips to Bern’s, Le Bernardin, Per Se, Restaurant Eugene – they were great experiences which I’m glad I can revisit. I realized I had forgotten what happened on this particular visit to Eugene.

For reasons I can’t explain (booze), I left my camera at the restaurant. On the taxi ride home I realized my error, and called, and they had of course found it. We turned the taxi around and I picked it up. The next day I had quite the surprise when I discovered some photos I didn’t take. It seems the former bar manager, Nick Hearin, took my camera on a little tour of the kitchen and had some fun taking some shots. I thought it was great. I enjoyed seeing the people behind the meal having a little fun. I didn’t post them at the time, but looking back it’s a fond memory of a great night with friends, and I thought I’d share them. I hope they enjoy them as much as I do.

Love it. Going back to old pictures is always an eye-opener for me.

I love this! At my wedding, some of the wait staff did the same thing with those silly disposable cameras at each table. I enjoyed seeing some “behind the scenes” shots from the kitchen at my own wedding!

And btw – we had the reception at Red Fish Grill down in Miami, FL. If you ever get the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it. It’s delish.
