Grilling Out

BBQ - Sunday

The original title of this post was BBQ, but then I realized I’m in the South, where BBQ is a noun. So I “grilled out” both nights last weekend. We ate, we drank, we cavorted, and at times we stood around a grill and nodded our heads.

Saturday I went to my friend Steve’s home, and he took care of all the cooking. He has four large Big Green Eggs, and I’m fairly sure he was using them all at once. Roasted beets and goat cheese, grilled squid salad, hot smoked Sockeye salmon, whole roasted beef tenderloin, salt roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables…it wasn’t too shabby. Killer wines too. The Piollot below is a weird steal of a Rosé Champagne, purchased from Le Caveau.

Sunday I had my turn to cook, as I assisted my friend Matt on his BGE. We smoked wings, grilled rosemary threaded shrimp, slow roasted a ribeye roast (ala Adam Perry Lang), and I put together a watermelon, tomato, avocado, cucumber, and herb salad.
