Quick Bite – Dumpling House

Dumpling house

Whenever I find myself in Duluth, I take a quick gander at Chow Down Atlanta and see what tasty treats Chloe has for me. This visit led me to Dumpling House, which is newly opened in the space that was recently occupied by EERecipe Rice Crepe House, which I only visited once. They had the most amazing chicken soup, and I was sorry, but not surprised to hear of their departure. The whole shopping center in which it resides is weird, on an off-shoot road from Pleasant Hill without much traffic (comparatively), and it is not fully occupied and gives off a desolate vibe despite its newness.

My visit certainly did the trick. I didn’t find it to be go-out-of-my-way amazing, but if in the Duluth area with a hunger for dumplings or noodles, I think it makes a fine choice. The banchan is limited, but those that they offer up are excellent. In particular, the steamed egg pictured below was top notch. I said as much to the waitress, so she packed me another one when I ordered bibim guksu to-go after devouring the dumplings (mandoo, heh). The bibim guksu was quite the hearty portion, and I was happy to snack on the cold and spicy noodles for the rest of the hot day.

Recommended, before they inevitably close.

That “weird off-shoot” road (North Berkeley) is one of the best short cuts in the city (Can make going up Peachtree Industrial to say, the corner of Satellite and Pleasant Hill much faster). Further, at the corner of that weird off shoot road and Peachtree Industrial resides one of the best meat markets in the city, Patton’s. Any self respecting foodie in this city who resides Northside really should know about Patton’s.
