Once again I have a bunch of ATL related links/info I found interesting and wanted to pass along. Thanks for the actual people that wrote the original posts, allowing me to regurgitate quickly while I’m traveling for work. I have quite a few of them today, so please stay with me.

Last night I found out about the “Atlanta Aquarium Party”, which is just a few weeks away on March 21st at 8PM. Held in the oceans ballroom, this formal event will benefit Junior Achievement, will have an “executive open bar”, and will feature a live band and desserts by Wolfgang Puck. The cost is $80 for a regular ticket, $125 for a VIP pass which includes a private tour of the aquarium, private bar, and a goody bag. Any charity event is a good event, but this one’s worth a look. There aren’t many formal charity events with open bar for $80, and the aquarium is a killer venue. You might just see Eat It, Atlanta all dolled up for the event. More information can be found here.

Anyone have any thoughts on what an executive open bar is? Scotch and soda only?

Last night, Besha over at Creative Loafing broke the news that chef Nick Melvin will be leaving the Farmhouse at Serenbe. This is surprising, especially considering all the fantastic praise the Serenbe community and his restaurant has received recently. I’m dissapointed I never made it down there to try his food, but I do plan on heading down there for a weekend sometime soon.

More Serenbe press can be found in the NY TimesThe Chicago Tribune, and in the AJC. Someone in their marketing department has been doing an awesome job.

Esquire named the top 59 breakfast places in AmericaRia’s Bluebird Cafe made the list, as did Thumbs Up Diner. I’m glad that they didn’t opt for an easier choice like the Flying Biscuit or The Silver Skillet. Those places are overrated. Ria’s is my favorite, their selection is the most varied and well executed. The name always makes me think of diarrhea though, so there’s that.

The lovely ladies at Atlanta Dish mentioned that tonight Morton’s Steakhouse in Buckhead will be celebrating their 15th anniversary, and this can benefit you in the form of free food. From 5 to 7PM they will be serving free filet mignon sandwiches in the bar area.

Atlanta Intown – News You Can Eat had two announcements you should check out. First they mentioned the new Sunday night pasta dinner at Shaun’s, which started this past Sunday. For $12 you get a salad, pasta, and dessert. I saw a few photos via a twitter-friendly diner and it looked promising, and you can’t beat that price.

Also mentioned in a different post, JCT Kitchen will be hosting a Supper Club Event on Tuesday, March 10, benefitting the Atlanta Food Bank. I plan on being there, definitely give the link above a look for more info.
