Last year was the first I’d heard of Menu for Hope, a “grassroots charity event for wine and food bloggers that started in response to the horrible Tsunamis of 2004″.
Over $90,000 was raised last year through online donations, and there are tons of fantastic prizes that have been donated to Menu for Hope. Vinography hosts the event and coordinates all of the raffle prizes. There are big-time prizes like Napa Valley getaway weekends valued at over $3000 and some prizes that may be as small as a cook book or signed photograph.
How it works is when you donate, for each $10 you give, you can choose one prize that you would like to be in the raffle to win. Keep in mind that the larger prizes will have more people choosing to enter, so your odds will decrease. Some of the lower $ value items may have much fewer entries, so can have a very good chance of winning a cool prize, all while donating to charity. More info is on the Vinography website, and Chez Pim has put a master list of prizes up on her site. Check it out, donate, and good luck!
If you are ready to make a donation, you can do so here at the First Giving website.
