Westside Winter Festival Wrap-up

I forgot to mention a few things I purchased at Saturday’s festival. First was some coffee at Star Provisions from Batdorf & Bronson. This coffee is great when you enjoy Starbuck’s coffee, but it’s just too “cheap” for you.

I don’t have a photo of the cheese I bought, but it was a soft goat’s milk from Twig Farm, and I wish I had purchased more of this gooey, funktastic cheese.

Also, I forgot to mention that The Local Farmstand has raw milk, so drop by and let them you know would like to get on the order list, or send an email to Judith at the Love is Love Farm. Why would you want raw milk? Because it’s better for you, you can use the cream (which rises to the top) for coffee, butter, or whipped cream, and I’m gonna make some bomb mozzarella with it.

Last up, Men’s Health just rated the “Drunkest Cities in America”. Surprisingly to me, Denver is the most drunk city in America, while Durham, NC is the least drunk. I mean, Durham is kind of a college town and Denver is full of hippies. Maybe if you had told me Denver was the “weedy-est” town in American I would believe you, but of course, everyone knows that is nearby Boulder.

Atlanta measures as the 12th Drunkest town in America, which is surely something we can all rally behind and I am proud to have done by part during my 6 fabulous years in College. Oh, and the 3 years since then too. Almost forgot about that.

Does Denver being the mile-high city have anything to do with that? If not, I would imagine everyone in Detroit, that can afford alcohol, would be drowning themselves in it. I know I would.

Jimmy, Love is Love farm is one of the two farms in the CSA that we talked about a few months ago. Just thought it was ironic that we both get food from Judith!

Also, what is the definition of drunk used in this survey? Is it something like alcohol sales per over-18 capita??

  • jimmy

If you click on the picture of the country, you can see their definition.

Looks like a combo of Alcohol Liver Deaths, binge drinkers, DUI’s, fatal crashes, and laws attempting to cut down on excessive drinking.

Thanks for the follow-up. When they said drunk, they meant drunk…

That blind tasting event at Woodfire sounds like fun! Too bad I’ll be in MD for it…
