This past Saturday I attended the Westside Winter Festival over in the development where JCT, Bacchanalia, Figo, and Taqueria del Sol is located. After a few days of rain it was finally a nice day, and this is close to my house, so it was something fun to do for a couple of hours.
It’s wasn’t so much of a “festival” (a bunch of my friends were picturing beer tents and live music) as it was an expose for the development and the dedication of the new bridge connecting the existing development to the still-in-progress White Provisions building across the train tracks. It was a fun atmosphere though, with some food samples and plenty of people going in and out of the shops and just hanging out. Parking was a challenge around 1PM, below you can see JCT and Sid Mashburn’s parking lot, with the White Provision building in the background.
Below is the bridge that connects the development over the train tracks. The bridge makes a huge difference and really opens the whole place up, giving you a reason to walk towards the back of the existing development by the JCT Bar, then make your way across to the bridge to all the new retail space over there.
The view back towards the JCT upstairs bar from the walking bridge.
View of the parking lot back towards Taqueria del Sol; it was tough to find a spot at one point.
B.Right Scooter company, showing off their stuff to some interested parties (c’mon Ed, buy one!).
You’d be surprised at how affordable they are!
Lots of people hanging out. I felt pretty stupid taking photos with the iPhone.
The best blurry photo of the cheese room I could take at Star Provisions before they chastised me because apparently photos aren’t allowed. I felt awkward after that so I bought some cheese, honey, and coffee.
Now there are even more reasons to head over to this Westside development, and I really look forward to it when it’s warm outside and the White Provisions building is fully occupied. There will be even more restaurant/food offerings and plenty of shops to walk around and check out, and in a very hip and industrious setting. I think they’ve really hit a home run in this development and it only looks to be getting better.
